Private Clubs Designed by Seth Raynor
1912–1926
Seth Raynor began his career as a surveyor working for C.B. Macdonald and went on to become one of the most prolific and respected architects of golf's golden age. Raynor refined and spread Macdonald's template-hole philosophy across dozens of courses, designing clubs with the same strategic rigor but adding his own engineering precision and boldly geometric green complexes. His career was cut short by his death in 1926 at age 51, but the courses he left behind — Fishers Island, Camargo Club, and Yale Golf Course among them — are considered some of America's greatest private layouts.
