Wheeling Country Club is one of West Virginia's oldest private golf institutions, established in 1902 along the Ohio Valley and expanded to 18 holes in 1924 under the design of noted architect William Langford. The course plays to a par 71 at 6,546 yards with a slope rating of 133, featuring dramatic elevation changes characteristic of the region. The club has hosted both the West Virginia Amateur and West Virginia Open championships and remains a landmark of private club tradition in the upper Ohio Valley.
