About The Country Club of Virginia James River
The Country Club of Virginia's James River Course is a historic private club founded in 1908 in Richmond, Virginia, featuring an 18-hole championship layout designed by William Flynn in 1928. Flynn, the architect behind Shinnecock Hills and Cherry Hills, crafted a strategic course stretching 7,019 yards along the James River, later faithfully restored by Lester George in 1991-92. The club has hosted multiple USGA championships, including the 1955 U.S. Amateur and 1998 U.S. Women's Amateur, and serves as the annual venue for the PGA Tour Champions' Dominion Energy Charity Classic.
