About Essex County Club
Essex County Club is one of America's oldest golf clubs, founded in 1893 in Manchester, Massachusetts, along the New England coast. Donald Ross overhauled the original Herbert Leeds layout in 1917, producing a course celebrated for its classic turtleback greens that has remained largely unchanged ever since. The club hosted the 1917 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship and stands as a well-preserved example of Ross's enduring architectural legacy.
