About California Golf Club of San Francisco
California Golf Club of San Francisco, commonly known as Cal Club, is a storied private club founded in 1918 and situated in South San Francisco. Originally designed by A. Vernon Macan in 1924, the course gained its distinctive character through a 1927 renovation by Alister MacKenzie, whose trademark bunkering and large, undulating greens remain defining features. A 2007 restoration by Kyle Phillips preserved that classic design legacy while bringing the course to a championship-caliber 7,300 yards, and Cal Club has served as the site of multiple USGA championships, including the 1964 and 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur.
