About Inverness Country Club
Inverness Country Club is a historic private golf club in Birmingham, Alabama, originally established in 1908 and built around a Donald Ross design. The course has hosted four U.S. Opens — in 1935, 1954, 1963, and 1979 — cementing its place as one of the most significant championship venues in American golf history. Notable for its small, heavily bunkered greens that are a hallmark of Ross's architecture, the course has been refined over the decades by architects including Perry Maxwell, Jack Nicklaus, and others.
